* Another duel is performed with Luxology's software. [14:43 ET]
* Peebler says he reconfigured their software for 64-bit in 15 minutes. [14:42 ET]
* Jobs introduces Brad Peebler, co-founder of Luxology. [14:41 ET]
* As usual, the Mac prevails -- it was 2.1 times faster. [14:40 ET]
* Jobs and Schiller do their classic PC vs Mac duels using Photoshop. [14:38 ET]

* Three Models: 1.6GHz, 80GB HD, 256GB RAM, $1999: 1.8GHZ, 160GB HD, 512GB RAM, $2399; dual 2GHz, 160GB HD, 512MB RAM, $2999. [14:32 ET]
* Also featured is an all aluminum enclosure, GeFore FX5200 Ultra in the low-end, SuperDrive in all, a single white Apple logo on the side, mesh on the front and back, smaller handles, four separate thermal zones, breakthrough computer controlled cooling, 9 fans inside, 35 dBA (twice as quiet as a G4), with independent speed control.[14:27 ET]
* Jobs says you could transfer the entire content of a DVD in a second off RAM. [14:26 ET]
* Dual processors are offered, with up to 8GB of memory (yes, you read that correctly). [14:25 ET]
* The new system features 400 MHz 128-bit DDR memory, AGP 8X Pro Graphics, 133 MHz PCI-X slots, Serial ATA, and connects to HyperTransport interconnect. [14:23 ET]
* Jobs introduces Dr. John Kelly III, Senior VP of Technology at IBM, to talk about the chip. [14:19 ET]
* The new chip was built in a three million dollar factory in New York. [14:19 ET]
* The G5 is designed for dual processor systems. It offers 215 in-flight instructions (the G4 can only do 16), an optimized Velocity engine, two double precision floating points, two fload store units, massive branch prediction logic, 130 nanometer process, silicon on insulator, and 8 layer copper interconnects. [14:18 ET]
* The G5 runs current 32-bit apps natively, runs up to 2GHz, 1GHz front-side bus (fastest bus ever says Jobs). [14:16 ET]
* For the chip Apple turned to IBM. The G5 is the world's first 64-bit processor, notes Jobs. [14:15 ET]
* "We are delivering today the world's fastest personal computer," says Jobs. [14:14 ET]
* Jobs says "Maybe some of you noticed something on the Net ... funny thing happened on our Web site. Premature specification. It was a mistake, and it is true." [14:13 ET]
* Demoe concludes. Xcode is included with Panther. [14:12 ET]
* Other features include: Zero link, Predictive Compile (compiles while you build), Fix and continue (make changes to apps while they are running), and a new interface. Apple employee #8 (Chris Espinosa) demoes. [14:07 ET]
* The number one thing is speed. Xcode features a new GCC 3.3 compiler and Distributed Builds. [14:03 ET]
* Xcode: a completely new set of developer tools. [14:02 ET]
* iSight is priced at $149 -- developers at the Keynote get one free. [14:02 ET]
* It also features integrated rotate and tilt and comes with a hard card for traveling. [14:1 ET]
* iSight features three stands and mounts on top of portables, displays, iMacs, and eMacs. [14:00 ET]
* iSight features: full-motion video up to 30 fps, 640x480 resolution, auto focus, built-in element microphone, and a single FireWire port. [13:59 ET]
* Jobs shows new Apple video camera -- iSight. [13:57 ET]
* A preview copy of Panther is free to developers today. It will cost US$129 and will ship by the end of the year. [13:56 ET]
* iChat A/V ships with Panther -- $US29 for Jaguar users. [13:56 ET]
* A free iChat A/V beta is available today for Jaguar and Panther -- it times out December 31. [13:56 ET]
* iChat A/V is standards-based. [13:55 ET]
* Gore talks to Jobs over video iChat. Gore is making jokes. [13:52 ET]

* "This is going to totally change the way we work,' says Jobs. [13:51 ET]

* The video chat requires a broadband connection - 56k minimum for audio chats. [13:47 ET]
* It works with any FireWire camera (camcorders) and built-in microphones. It offers free long distance calls, basically, notes Jobs. [13:46 ET]
* There are no phone numbers or IP addresses to type in -- you just need a buddies name. It is location independent. [13:45 ET]
* Access A/V from your buddy list and zero setup or configuration -- all you have to do is plug in a camera. [13:45 ET]
* New iChat A/V adds audio chats and video chats. "Video conferencing for the rest of us," says Jobs. [13:43 ET]
* 25% of Apple customers use it routinely. [13:43 ET]
* Jobs says he saved the best for last... iChat. [13:43 ET]
* Offers a nice preview feature and instant searching. This is built into Panther. [13:42 ET]
* FontBook: handles professional font management. One button to install a new font. [13:42 ET]
* The Fast Switch in awesome - loud applause from the crowd. The Desktop literally spins around to the new one, kind of like Keynote. [13:40 ET]
* Faster User Switching: there is now a menu in the corner to switch between multiple users on a machine. [13:40 ET]
* Preview offers on-the-fly postscript to PDF conversion. [13:39 ET]
* Scrolling a large PDF document is very fast in the new Preview. A search feature has also been added. [13:38 ET]
* By the way, Jobs has a small camera hooked up to the top of his Cinema display. No mention of it yet however... [13:37 ET]
* Apple has updated Preview to be the fastest PDF reader in the world. Jobs compares the render speed to Windows Acrobat 6 -- Acrobat gets trounced. [13:35 ET]

* Jobs shows Matrix Reloaded trailer. The quality is outstanding. [13:35 ET]
* Jobs demoes Pixlet by showing a Finding Nemo trailer. [13:33 ET]
* 'Pixlet' features a breakthrough new QuickTime codec with studio-grade quality -- 48 bits / pixel source data, no noticeable visual artifacts, no inter-frame compression. [13:31 ET]
* Built-in fax in Panther -- every print panel has a fax button. [13:30 ET]
* IPSec-based VPN is built-in to Panther. [13:30 ET]
* Jobs demoes thread view in Mail. [13:29 ET]
* Jobs demoes HTML emails. [13:28 ET]
* The new Mail app will be much faster, offer Safari rendering built-in, allows you to manage your mail by threads, and Addresses are now 'Objects' [13:28 ET]
* Mail to be optimized for Panther. [13:26 ET]
* It encrypts and decrypts on-the-fly. [13:26 ET]
* FileVault: secures a user's entire Home folder. [13:26 ET]
* Expose uses Quartz Extreme. [13:25 ET]
* Users can assign any key on their keyboard (or assign screen corners) to perform this feature. Lots and ooohs and aaaahs from the audience.[13:23 ET]
* Expose shrinks all of the windows in order to display them all on the screen at once, so you can find what you are looking for easily. [13:23 ET]
* Jobs says it makes it easier to find the window you are looking for. [13:22 ET]
* "Expose" is a new feature for organizing windows. [13:21 ET]
* Next up: "Expose" [13:20 ET]
* New .Mac to offer auto-syncing of files. [13:19 ET]
* The searches appear tremendously fast in the new Finder. Jobs says it is "The best the world has ever seen." [13:18 ET]
* There is a new iChat 2 icon with a camera in the middle that Jobs has not mentioned yet. [13:17 ET]
* Jobs demoes Panther. [13:17 ET]
* Panther features a one-column Finder, brushed metal Finder window, fast searching, an 'Action" button, the return of Labels, and New open and Save panels. [13:16 ET]
* Jobs says the old Finder was 'computer-centric' and Apple wants something 'user-centric' [13:15 ET]
* Panther to offer lots of UNIX features and Windows operability. [13:14 ET]
* Mac OS X is now the most popular UNIX in the world, says Jobs. [13:13 ET]
* Over 100 new features in Panther, the next major revision of Mac OS X. [13:12 ET]
* Apple also releasing Safari SDK for developers. [13:11 ET]
* Safari 1.0 final will be available for download in a few hours. [13:10 ET]
* 5 million Safari beta downloads since January. [13:10 ET]
* Apple has sold 5 million songs on its online music store. [13:08 ET]
